RingOffice vs Bell Total Connect

A Bell Total Connect alternative with published pricing and no lock-in

Bell Total Connect is Bell's cloud voice service, delivered with Webex for meetings and collaboration and sold per line through carrier contracts. RingOffice is a managed 3CX cloud phone system, licensed by concurrent call, on our own 3CX-certified SIP trunking service — with rates published rather than quoted.

What Bell Total Connect is, and where the friction shows up

Bell Total Connect is Bell Canada's hosted business voice service. It bundles cloud calling with Webex for meetings and collaboration, and it is sold the way carrier services are generally sold: per line, on a term agreement, as part of a broader Bell account that may also carry your internet and mobile.

For businesses that want one supplier for everything and value a single Bell invoice, that is a coherent proposition. The friction tends to appear in three places.

You cannot see what it costs until you ask

Bell does not publish Total Connect pricing on its website. Getting a number means requesting a quote, and comparing that number against alternatives means requesting several. RingOffice takes the opposite position: per-channel SIP rates and per-extension pricing are published, so you can work out roughly what you would pay before speaking to anybody. We regard that as the more respectful way to sell.

It is priced per line

Carrier voice services are typically billed per line or per seat. That is straightforward to understand, but it means a business with many occasional phone users pays for capacity it does not use. RingOffice licenses by concurrency — the number of calls happening at the same time — which usually favours teams where phone use is intermittent rather than constant.

It is a service you operate

Bell provides the platform. Configuring call flows, adding users, adjusting hunt groups and keeping the thing tidy generally falls to someone on your side, or to an IT provider you pay separately. RingOffice is a managed service: configuration, hosting, monitoring, daily backups, patching and changes after go-live are ours, included, on request.

None of this makes Bell Total Connect a poor product. If you want your phone service on the same bill as your fibre and your mobile fleet, that convenience is real and RingOffice does not offer it — we provide the phone system and the voice network, not internet or wireless. The question is whether that bundling is worth the pricing model and the administrative load that come with it.

Why businesses move from Bell Total Connect to RingOffice

RingOffice is a fully managed service, not software you are handed and left to operate. Here is what changes after the switch.

We run it, you use it

RingOffice configures, hosts, monitors, backs up, patches and supports the platform. There is no console you are expected to learn and no administrator you need to hire.

Licensed by concurrent calls, not headcount

You pay for the number of calls happening at once, not for every employee with a phone. Teams where most people are on a call only part of the day stop paying for idle seats.

Your choice of AI engine

OpenAI, xAI Grok or Google — you choose, and it is included rather than metered by the minute. If you change your mind later, you are not locked into a single vendor.

One accountable team

RingOffice operates its own 3CX-certified SIP trunking service alongside the managed platform, so the network, the phone system and the support desk answer to the same people.

North American cloud

Hosted on North American infrastructure (AWS and Azure) with 24/7 monitoring and daily backups, backed by a 99.99% uptime SLA.

Live in 5 to 7 days

A professionally configured system, with your numbers ported and your team trained, in about a week — and month-to-month terms afterwards rather than a multi-year lock-in.

Support and ownership: RingOffice vs Bell Total Connect

RingOffice (fully managed)
One team runs the SIP trunking, the phone platform and the support desk
Configuration, moves, adds and changes are done for you on request
24/7 monitoring and daily backups included, not an add-on tier
Roughly 2.4 hour AI-enhanced average response time
Remote administrator support — a person makes the change, not a ticket queue
Month-to-month, so the service has to keep earning the contract
Carrier-hosted voice service
The carrier supplies the platform; day-to-day administration is yours
Support is organised around the carrier account, not the phone system
Changes after go-live typically go through a ticket or an IT provider
Pricing is established by quote rather than published rates
Term agreements are the norm

Switching from Bell Total Connect: what actually happens

Both systems run in parallel before cutover, so there is no day where your phones are the experiment. Typical timeline is 5 to 7 days for a straightforward site.

Step 1

We audit what you have

We review your current Bell Total Connect configuration — extensions, call flows, integrations, contract end date and number inventory — and tell you plainly whether switching is worth it.

Step 2

We build it in parallel

Your new system is configured, tested and demonstrated to you before anything changes. Your existing service keeps running untouched.

Step 3

We port your numbers

RingOffice manages the port with your current carrier, including the paperwork. Numbers move on a scheduled date you approve, not a surprise one.

Step 4

We stay on it

Training for your team, then ongoing monitoring, backups and administration. Changes after go-live are made by us, on request, at no extra charge.
